Now I know its against the faceless caped heroes we know as helldivers! But what about these two as playable skins? XD

Revealing faces and not wearing a cape are both definitely sacrilegious acts, but maybe using the body as armor, then making helmets and capes to match could possibly work.
Then again, one of the privates will mention how they once wished to become a Helldiver but was dissuaded by the thought of having claustrophobia in a Hellpod—meaning these guys aren’t enlisted in the Helldivers branch, which in turn would suggest that those are not Helldiver uniforms.

Nay, I kinda see them as general military personal, the like that run the ships and possibly in a wider lore act as planetary defence forces etc. The brance you’d serve in before going into helldivers training.
(I mean, my downfall is always trying to play as the under dog, the regulars whos lives are so meaningless xD)

Arrowhead Developers wear caps like privates do.
If you look closer you can see Sephez is wearing black cap and revealing his face as well
